Quite a puzzler. A very rare and exclusive antique Tehran in the collectible π±π°π΄π©π΅πͺ square format. Woven in the 3D Soof Barjasteh technique with a carved out metal thread field with metallic wefts, and an embossed pile-knotted field. Very intricate, very challenging to weave, very hard to achieve.
This is also one of a handful of rugs in the world that are signed "Tehran", thereby ascertaining this much sought after provenance and origin. What is really intriguing is who or what MM is. The full signature is TEHRAN - MM.
Perfect condition with full pile and lush, long original fringes.

I must say this one of the most enriching carpet purchase experiences I ever had. This was not a mere transaction but more an experience about art and history. Dr Maktabi's experience and knowledge in this space is second to none. Highly recommended! R.A., Doha, Qatar
You can't only be a customer of Hadi Maktabi. While his main purpose is rug dealing, he starts with story telling and ends with history selling. That's what I call high-end art curating and closing it all with an entertaining friendship. George El Hani, CEO Levica, Lebanon π±π§
