Arguably the finest rugs of the 19th century are the silk foundation Senneh group. Their finesse and remarkable quality are unparalleled to the extent that they are compared to shawls and other fine textiles. It also means that very few of them survive intact over 150 years.
Almost all silk base Senneh carpets are in π¨π©π’ππͺπ€π©π¦ size averaging 190 cm in length. ππ’π³π₯π¦π© specimens that reach 2.5 meters are once in a lifetime pieces. This is such a masterpiece.
It is very sweet in all possible ways. The ππ’π©πͺ pattern is executed with impressive detailing in a quasi microscopic manner. We think we see 4 separate layers of design but in truth they are all the same ππ’π©πͺ pattern tiling the field but the sections are separated by clever coloring and contouring.
Perfect condition, extant and full end kilim with extravagant original ends. Another collector's gem.
The idea of purchasing valuable rugs and other artwork online from an overseas seller is daunting for several reasons, not least of which is the fact that, not being able to examine and feel the rug for yourself, you are never entirely certain that the origin, age or condition of the rug corresponds with the dealerβs description. For me, I could never take this step unless I had absolute trust in the integrity of the dealer, and my recent experience with Hadi confirms that my faith in him was well placed. Every detail of the antique rug expertly explained by Hadi was accurate and when I finally received the actual rug, it turned out to be even more stunning than his photos depicted. F. To me personally there is no surprise, event or frankly anything that gets me more excited than the purchase of a treasured piece of understated artwork such as that of a proper vintage/antique carpet. The sourcing, grading and authentication of these pieces is no small task but is of the highest importance. Through the respected dealer Hadi Maktabi all that is guaranteed, and rest assured the one thing I can guarantee personally as a client is a first class service from the initial selection process till it gets delivered right to your door step. It was an undeniably special experience, with hundreds of carpets to choose from, will definitely be visiting again. Thank you dear Hadi. Habeeb Al Monawer, Kuwait π°πΌ
I first met Dr. Maktabi as a lecturer on carpet history and was captivated by his passion for the subject. Only later I knew him as a dealer, though even in our financial transactions, Hadi has been a gentle guide and friend. He has understood my taste and interests and made wonderful suggestions, but never in a pushy way. That is to say I have enjoyed working with him on several levels and wish to continue our excellent relations and dealings far into the future. A.
