It is hard to ignore the regal presence of this attractive and highly unusual antique Bijar sampler. The ๐๐๐ง๐๐ฉ๐ field is calm and serene .. and suddenly there rises the most magnificent, gigantic leafy form. In Bijar area carpets, we see this motif feature as a pendant dangling from either end of a sprawling medallion. It originally derives from the Bourbon ๐๐ก๐๐ช๐ง ๐๐ ๐๐ฎ๐จ emblem, which featured on the royal banner of French kings for centuries. Here it serves as a single, independent motif in its own right which imparts it tremendous dramatic appeal. The extra end borders at top and bottom are quirky features on vagirehs from this provenance.
Wool and wool, Garrus type end kilim sumakh work. Irresistible.
