Story

Intact and perfectly preserved, this gorgeous pair of old Tudeshk is the first I have encountered in over 10 years. This quality merchandise has since long left the market and only survives (if at all) in private collections of art lovers. The pair is a testament to the glory of carpet weaving in the early 1900s as well as the refined taste of collectors back then. Coming in an impressive Pardeh size only adds to the rarity.

The Shah Abbas design of all over lotus flowers is brought to life by the pleasant color palette, particularly the brilliant turquoise blue. It reverberates against the creamy field with its beautiful red flowers particularly well. The fringes are all original and still in original length and condition. The weave is particularly fine.

What our customers say!

You can't only be a customer of Hadi Maktabi. While his main purpose is rug dealing, he starts with story telling and ends with history selling. That's what I call high-end art curating and closing it all with an entertaining friendship. George El Hani, CEO Levica, Lebanon 🇱🇧

I must say this one of the most enriching carpet purchase experiences I ever had. This was not a mere transaction but more an experience about art and history. Dr Maktabi's experience and knowledge in this space is second to none. Highly recommended! R.A., Doha, Qatar

Hana Chidiac, Curator of the Middle East Department at the Musee Quai Branly - Jacques Chirac, Paris, France 🇫🇷
