Simply beautiful and outrageously fine.
This is one of the greatest œuvres from the workshop of Grand Master Afsari, active in Kashan in the very early 1900s and the author of a series of landscape and pictorial carpets of the highest quality. The signature pale blue silk selvedges jut out on either side. This horizontal format is greatly desirable for aesthetic reasons and very handy for functional ones. The color combination is sublime. Architecturally, we see a realistic depiction of the imposing mansions of Kashan's rich cloth merchants which actually still survive (e.g. Borujerdi and Tabatabai Mansions).

I must say this one of the most enriching carpet purchase experiences I ever had. This was not a mere transaction but more an experience about art and history. Dr Maktabi's experience and knowledge in this space is second to none. Highly recommended! R.A., Doha, Qatar
