This square sofreh or eating cloth is quite eye catching. Brown sheep's wool was used for the majority part around the edges. But the weaver seems to have gone through a revelation and realized the importance of the 3 Primary Colors and so painted an abstract expressionist scene in the middle using red, blue and yellow. The upper and lower end are embroidered with sumakh stitch technique.
I must say this one of the most enriching carpet purchase experiences I ever had. This was not a mere transaction but more an experience about art and history. Dr Maktabi's experience and knowledge in this space is second to none. Highly recommended! R.A., Doha, Qatar
