Jozan is a tiny dusty village remotely nestled in the mountain chain between Farahan and Malayer. It is perplexing how such fine rugs were woven there. Its artisans were the masters of Barjasteh weaving, the art of creating carpets with a 3D clipped pile that gives a stunning carved effect. This is no mean feat and requires terrible sophistication. It is a wonder that this beauty has survived so perfectly to the present day. An allover field of roses covers the field bichromatically, in itself an abstract touch far removed from the common sensibilities of Persian art.
I must say this one of the most enriching carpet purchase experiences I ever had. This was not a mere transaction but more an experience about art and history. Dr Maktabi's experience and knowledge in this space is second to none. Highly recommended! R.A., Doha, Qatar
“I practically furnished my entire home with carpets from Hadi. The process was not only a joy but it was also a learning experience for me. Hadi was super helpful in identifying the right pieces for my home that would both work with my taste, budget, sizes required and that would be a good investment for my family. Hadi’s collection is second to none, and his knowledge and service is truly the blessing on top.” Amr Banaja, Public Investment Fund, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦
“You don’t just buy a rug from Dr Maktabi... It’s an experience, a rich one! You learn about history, culture & art. And more importantly you feel euphoric!” Dr Siamak Abolhassani, Expert Medical Care Clinics, Victoria, Australia 🇦🇺
