This is a posthumous masterpiece designed by the late Grand Master Shahsavarpour. He was a towering giant of the Tabriz art scene in the second half of the 1900s and contributed many famous patterns to the world of fine carpets. This is one of the very few designs which he created but did not weave in his lifetime. His estate allowed this fabulous design to be woven in his memory a couple of years ago and we are honored to have it among our inventory.
It is a stunning tour de force of design, materials, technique and finesse. Aesthetically it is one of the most beautiful versions of the ππ°π π° ππ°ππ£π°π that have seen the face of the sky. The expert draughtsmanship and inventiveness of the late master Shahsavarpour are on clear display. Gold thread of 22 carat caliber is used extensively all across the masterpiece, creating the 3D ππ°πΆπ§ ππ’π³π«π’π΄π΅π¦π© technique that was last seen on Qajar palace carpets of the 1800s. This makes it unique among 21st century rugs. The flowers and birds are knotted in silk pile, the warps are silk while the wefts are gold thread. And in far larger sizes than the antiques..
βYou donβt just buy a rug from Dr Maktabi... Itβs an experience, a rich one! You learn about history, culture & art. And more importantly you feel euphoric!β Dr Siamak Abolhassani, Expert Medical Care Clinics, Victoria, Australia π¦πΊ
As a carpet collector of 30 years, I have noticed a decline in the amount of truly unique and high quality carpets on the market. I have also noted a decline in the knowledge of merchants, generally. Hadi Maktabi stands against this trend as a both a curator for and an educator of his clients. His offerings are well-researched, museum quality carpets that are both singular and expertly chosen. In dealing with Hadi, I have experienced excellent communication, a high standard of service and extremely pleasant interactions. Warren D., Hong Kong ππ°
The idea of purchasing valuable rugs and other artwork online from an overseas seller is daunting for several reasons, not least of which is the fact that, not being able to examine and feel the rug for yourself, you are never entirely certain that the origin, age or condition of the rug corresponds with the dealerβs description. For me, I could never take this step unless I had absolute trust in the integrity of the dealer, and my recent experience with Hadi confirms that my faith in him was well placed. Every detail of the antique rug expertly explained by Hadi was accurate and when I finally received the actual rug, it turned out to be even more stunning than his photos depicted. F.
