Finely woven on silk warps, the ivory field carries floriate rows of boteh motifs. Such rugs are hard to find in mint condition like this. Initially they were woven for the benefit of the upper classes across Qajar Persia and were often noted by European travellers as being the finest fabrics of the country during the entire 19th century.
