An Unusual Square Amoghly
Number 551 Size 235 X 239 Origin Mashhad
Style Shah Abbas Materials Wool & cotton Age Circa 1940
Grand Master Abdolmohammad Amoghly and his brother Ali were sole purveyors of fine carpets to the court of the Pahlavi Shahs of Iran in the first half of the 20th century. As such, their carpets are few and represent the highest standards of Persian art in the medium of carpet weaving. This is an uncommon square example of rather small size for the famous atelier.
